Print your own record
This past Christmas, Santa got one of the coolest first gifts for Peggy: this vintage Fischer Price Record Player from the 70s.
It’s really just the coolest thing and I’m of the solid opinion that we just don’t make toys the same anymore. A forewarning for anyone searching: they do make a dupe re-make of the toy now that looks almost exactly the same but does not function at all the same. Anyway, this one from the 70s requires no battery, is fully wind up and the “records” operate like a music box that plays songs via the built-in ridges on the record themselves. Anyway, we have a couple of the standard ones but Jane and Ben have been talking about 3D printing one for forever and for Father’s day, and the actually did it! They had to print it out NINE times on their 3D printer but after much hemming and hawing, they were able to print the first verse of 告五人‘s 愛人錯過 (a tune that we listened to as we drove around Taiwan all of last winter).
HOW COOL.

And after learning that Christopher Nolan drinks a large amount of earl grey tea on his film sets, Shawn has recently turned into a tea person so I got him a nice little tea set from Loveramics, which I just found out is a company based here out of Hong Kong! (If you’re in the city, I recommend checking out their store in Tai Kwun.)
(I’m not sure if this is the exact video / instructable they used but for those curious to go down this rabbit hole: https://www.instructables.com/3D-printing-records-for-a-Fisher-Price-toy-record-/)
Hope you are all having a wonderful Father’s Day for those who celebrate :)

As a lover of vintage things and 3D printing… This is so rad.
